Entrepreneurship Story
I was first introduced to
entrepreneurship when I was in 3rd grade and a friend of mine and I
decided that we wanted to learn a little extra money. Seeing that we both had a
love of dogs, the answer was simple, a dog walking business. We crafted flyers
filled with images of dogs, our prices and hours, and our names, and contact
info for potential customers to be able to reach us. We then put our flyers in
mailboxes across our community, as well as at our front and back gates so people
would see them as they came and left the community. In addition to that, we
would also go door to door selling our business to anyone who had a dog. In
all, our business was fairly successful, on days when we were active we could
make up to $20 in one day.
I enrolled in this class because
it immediately peaked my curiosity. Being a freshman, I haven’t quite figured out
what I want my major to be and what course I want my life to follow, I have, however,
envisioned being able to start my own business later on in life. I have always
been incredibly independent in the way I do thing and believe that
entrepreneurship can foster both independence as well as collaborations with
other people. In all, I hope for this class to be able to harbor and strengthen
my characteristics as well as furthering my business idea.
Hi, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteI think that it was very cool that you started your own dog walking business at a young age. I also like that filled a need that most people with pets have, walking their dog, and that it was also something you loved. I also completely agree with your statement that entrepreneurship can foster independence and collaboration. I know sometimes I tend to think of just the independence portion.
Hey, Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that you have some great entrepreneurial skills, and experience under your belt. Your drive at such a young age tells me that you would be an awesome business owner! I hope that you choose your major wisely but after a semester it should come right to you. Good Luck this semester!
