Testing the Hypothesis, Part 2
Who: Even before I began my interviews, when the idea first came to me, I knew that a lot of people would fall outside of my market. In my case, the people that fall out of my market would be over half of the population. 1 in every 6 families suffer from hunger, therefore my market would be tailored to that 16%. While I was doing my interviews, I saw the percentages come to life as I met people that were affected by hunger and were not affected by hunger.
What: One point that I thought of during my interviews, is that although the service i want to create could help hunger, it wont cure it.The wealth gap is still increasing in the US, if the hunger problem were to be cured, the government would need to become more involved.
Why: The needs in my case are different because the outsiders in my situation don't need a service that picks up restaurants leftovers because they have the ability to buy their own food. What: One point that I thought of during my interviews, is that although the service i want to create could help hunger, it wont cure it.The wealth gap is still increasing in the US, if the hunger problem were to be cured, the government would need to become more involved.
Inside Outside

Reduce restaurant waste
Why The wealth gap continues to Restaurants produce a lot of
increase and no solution waste and could help the issue
has been substantive enough to
make a large impact
I think your chart is well constructed and enough though only 16% of the population is inside your boundary, it is still an important 16%. Maybe you could potentially count people who are willing to help the hunger issue as part of the people inside your boundary. This might be a little optimistic, but who knows they could just happen to work at a restaurant and push your idea through.
ReplyDeleteI believe you may have interpreted the post a little incorrectly, but still an overall good job. Your chart was well constructed and had info that helped me understand exactly who was in and out of the boundaries. I believe that the 5/6 people in the outer boundary could be convinced to be in a part of the inner boundary maybe along the line with motivation to help and stop hunger in the United states. My post reflected another food issue "General mills sales slumping in yogurt and cereal" my inner boundary dealt with people wanting organic and healthy foods while the outer dealt wth people that that are diabetic that may need healthier food to keep their sugar regulated and keep them alive. Same goes here these people in the outer boundary can be moved hopefully somewhere down the line by helping to cure Hunger throughout.
ReplyDeleteI like that you realize your solution is not a cure to fix world hunger. That is too large scale of a problem. This also helps you realize that hungry people are not your problem. Food waste from restaurants is also not your problem. This is an important fact to realize because it will help you better realize what your problem really IS. By deconstructing it and figuring out why the problem exist you will be better able to strategize to find a solution.
