14A – Halfway Reflection

  1.  Throughout this course I have improved on my creativity skills to first find an issue that I thought was prevalent and then find a new way to solve it. Discovering issues in society that need to be fixed seems like a simple task, but in hindsight it took a lot of thought and required me to dig deep in order to find an issue and solution that was marketable. Another skill that I have is the value of time-management. Many of the assignments for this class are time consuming and requires one to be proficient about delegating their time so they can finish the assignments. 
  2. I felt like giving up last week when we had three assignments due that were all time consuming. Creating the elevator pitch required me to think how I want my idea to be perceived by the audience and then compose what I wanted to say, which is time consuming. Assignment 12A also had an interview requirement which was difficult to fulfill due to an already hectic work. What kept me going was that I know these exercises are only helping me to build an idea that I really hope to carry out one day. I have always had a tenacious attitude which another thing that I think helped me through the week and will continue to help me in the coming weeks. 
  3. a. Foster the skills of creativity for this class. If you can not come up with a creative idea to solve a common issue it will hard to market your product/service differently from competitors. 
      b. To develop a tenacious mindset you have to be ready to tackle a lot of these assignments. My best advice would be to start them early on in the week so you're no super stressed by the end of it. 

      c.  I would suggest getting out in the world, seeing if you can find any issues first hand instead of issues may suspect or heard about from someone else.

    I can honestly relate with the stress from trying to come up with an elevator pitch. The elevator pitches are probably the three assignments I am least looking forward to. I also liked your tip regarding going and seeing the world. I think that is very important to as you said see the issues and opportunities in action.

    I agree with you about everything you detailed this week. Another thing that might help you, which helps me is to just go through and jot down all assignments and a short description of the assignment on Sunday night before going to sleep and begin thinking about exactly what you are going to say/write about. I have ran into a few bumps in the road similar to what you have explained and its best to just take a mindset that pushes you to achieve greatness no matter how hard everything seems.

    Hi, it was easy for me ti do my halfway reflection. Their was not much research that I had to do because I know most of the stuff that I included into the reflection. I feel like I included good information that would help a future student attack this course. Get post and I am looking forward to reading your blog next week.

    I too have had those "give up" moments but I realize that it is only just a class and is more than possible to succeed.

15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

In these interviews, I once again saw the issue at hand/the service I am creating in a new light. Interview 1 realized that this service has the potential to unfairly distribute food to homeless shelters/food banks. His suggestion for fixing this issue was to weigh the amount of food that was being taken to each shelter to ensure that they are all getting the same amount of food in pounds. Another suggestion was to assign restaurants to shelters so the same restaurants provide food to the same places. Interview 2 brought up the fact that since consumers aren't actually paying for the service its not something the public would have to worry about in terms of finance. Lastly, Interview 3 brought up that this is very much a service that would make the public feel good about themselves since it is in turn helping the community.       1.  Microwave timers that have been left on Why it exists: People use microwaves to heat up their food, but then take their food out before the timer has rung. After removing their food, they do not cancel out the timer, and instead leave the blinking number on the microwave. 2.    Long waits for food at restaurants Why it exits: Often occurs from restaurants either being under staffed or particularly busy on a night.
