15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

In these interviews, I once again saw the issue at hand/the service I am creating in a new light. Interview 1 realized that this service has the potential to unfairly distribute food to homeless shelters/food banks. His suggestion for fixing this issue was to weigh the amount of food that was being taken to each shelter to ensure that they are all getting the same amount of food in pounds. Another suggestion was to assign restaurants to shelters so the same restaurants provide food to the same places. Interview 2 brought up the fact that since consumers aren't actually paying for the service its not something the public would have to worry about in terms of finance. Lastly, Interview 3 brought up that this is very much a service that would make the public feel good about themselves since it is in turn helping the community. This could then result in boor business for restaurants and if the service really takes off, a slight boom for the economy.

Overall, this segment brought to light more issues that my service has, but also encouraged me about the service would be perceived by the public. Overall, the largest purchase decision would lie with me because I would have to invest in providing the delivery vehicles, but very little purchasing in required by the public. And once agin, the post-purchase satisfaction is very high because this service is good for the community.  However, one thing I do need to consider more is the cost and how I am going to earn my money back.

  1. There were some very good points brought up by the people you interviewed for this assignment. Interview #1 mentioned weighing the food, which is a great idea that would have probably been forgotten or undervalued. It would be very important to make sure all homeless shelters receive equal amounts of food and I know that I might not have thought about that instantly.

  2. I believe that this assignment as a whole has really allowed us to find some of the most important weaknesses behind our business plans. For you, it seems that there is some confusion regarding how to make your business profitable. For mine, I've realized that the service I want to provide, while inherently beneficial to society, may not be enough of a priority for my market to engage in paying for it. In the long term, I think that these thought provoking assignments will improve our ability to consider all aspects of a business endeavor.

  3. Great summary of the interviews that you did. I liked this assignment because it gave me a chance to talk to potential customers and ask them about some other products and why of why not they may be influenced to buy the other products instead of mine. I think that it is helpful to go interview people and see what they think because sometimes you think you have a good idea until you actually hear your self talk about it.

  4. I really like the summaries of the interviews. I did like how these interviews actually gave us a chance to find out information beyond the basic product information that is usually discussed.
