19A – Idea Napkin No. 2

You Hi, my name is Elizabeth Barbe. After speaking to many of the people I am closest to, I realized how I am looked at through other people. Some of my greatest talents include my stubbornness and my empathy. My stubbornness allows me to take issues head on and do my best to solve them and my empathy helps me to work closely with others and also always reminds me what my goals is, to make and impact on people’s lives.   What are you offering to customers? My service hasn't changed from what it was before. I am offering a service that restaurants can use to deliver their leftovers to homeless shelters. I am solving people’s unmet needs because I am offering homeless shelters another source of food which in turn can help those that. are hungry. In turn, I am helping businesses, specifically restaurants, because they're leftovers will no longer go to waste but instead to a good cause.Using my service can help promote restaurants images by showing they are actively trying to he...

18A – Create a Customer Avatar

Image
What I am creating is more of a service that restaurants will use instead of something that is sold to the public, so instead I am going to describe who this service would appeal to.  My customer avatar is a woman in her mid-30s who currently lives in Utah, which is also known for having the highest community service from its residents of all the states. She is currently working with the YMCA, a non-profit organization, to help cure child hood obesity. She has one child herself and hopes to be able to raise him in a healthy way. Her and her husband maintain a healthy lifestyle, eating right and regularly exercising.  She has been at her job for a few years and as a result has an influential say in company decisions. Although she works at a non-profit, her husband is a successful banker; howwever, they are humble with their money, only spending on necessities and donate every month to charities. As a result of this, she drives a Volkswagen Pass...

16A –What’s Your Secret Sauce?

Restorative- I believe this is one of my best traits as an entrepreneur because I love to solve problems whether it be personal or with other people.  Achiever- I am always striving to keep myself motivated and believe that little improvements can ass up to big improvement if you do a little every day  Belief-  I have very strong core values that guide me and help to give projects that I am doing meaning and allows me to be there for other people  Intellection- I like to think and as a result I enjoy my alone time at least once a week so I can collect my thoughts and start fresh  Learner- I always want to try to learn and absorb more, I am a firm believer that the more you know the better decision you will make https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecXNedQ1u3o I feel like other people viewed me as a lot more strong willed and driven then I viewed myself. My dad and my roommate both pointed out how I can be incredibly stubborn and kind of hard head...

17A – Elevator Pitch No. 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWw8-i3x1TI A reflection on the feedback you received from your last pitch  I enjoyed reading all of the positive feedback from my first elevator pitch and I wanted to keep everything that was liked and only slightly change it. So, I tried to keep the passion in my voice and to talk smoothly as I had before. Some of the criticisms that struck out to me was the positioning of my camera, the initial pitch, and one self criticism that I had for myself was that I lacked a hook. What did you change, based on the feedback?  Based on the feedback, I changed the positioning of my camera. It still isn't perfect since the configuration of my room doesn't allow me much space to have a clear background with no objects. To fix my own criticism I added a hook in the beginning by applying it to the audience. Lastly, to fix the initial pitch I tried to gear more towards the audience and also show how eating at a restaurant that provides this service can act...

15A – Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 2

In these interviews, I once again saw the issue at hand/the service I am creating in a new light. Interview 1 realized that this service has the potential to unfairly distribute food to homeless shelters/food banks. His suggestion for fixing this issue was to weigh the amount of food that was being taken to each shelter to ensure that they are all getting the same amount of food in pounds. Another suggestion was to assign restaurants to shelters so the same restaurants provide food to the same places. Interview 2 brought up the fact that since consumers aren't actually paying for the service its not something the public would have to worry about in terms of finance. Lastly, Interview 3 brought up that this is very much a service that would make the public feel good about themselves since it is in turn helping the community. This could then result in boor business for restaurants and if the service really takes off, a slight boom for the economy.  Overall, this segment brought...

14A – Halfway Reflection

Image
Throughout this course I have improved on my creativity skills to first find an issue that I thought was prevalent and then find a new way to solve it. Discovering issues in society that need to be fixed seems like a simple task, but in hindsight it took a lot of thought and required me to dig deep in order to find an issue and solution that was marketable. Another skill that I have is the value of time-management. Many of the assignments for this class are time consuming and requires one to be proficient about delegating their time so they can finish the assignments.  I felt like giving up last week when we had three assignments due that were all time consuming. Creating the elevator pitch required me to think how I want my idea to be perceived by the audience and then compose what I wanted to say, which is time consuming. Assignment 12A also had an interview requirement which was difficult to fulfill due to an already hectic work. What kept me going was that I know these ...

13A – Reading Reflection No. 1

What surprised you the most?   I think what surprised me most was the beginning of Steve Job’s life. Jobs was the son of a bi-racial couple John Jandali and Joanna Schieble who used to argue  about their race differences and eventually gave Jobs up for adoption. After being put up for adoption, Jobs was later adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs.  What about the entrepreneur did you most admire? One of the first projects Steve Jobs made was with Steve Wozniak and was called “Blue Box”. Blue Box used frequencies to make long distance calls and was beginning to be very applicable during the technology boom. However, their new invention was stolen from them at gunpoint. I admire how despite this scary instance, the two were still able to work together and create bigger and better products.  What about the entrepreneur did you least admire? Jobs had an unhealthy relationship with Chrisann Brennan for five years and the couple had their first child together in 1978. Howeve...

Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Choosing a segment:   I chose the segment of entrepreneurial minds because aside from this assignment being an entrepreneurial venture, the people I interviewed also had entrepreneurial plans for one day. Two of the people I interviewed are going to Santa Fe College. Interviewee 1 has hopes to be a successful trader and be able to trade his own money as his only source of income. Interviewee 2 has hopes of creating their own acne cream that can compete against other relevant brands. The third Interviewee is a recent UF graduate and hopes to lower the concussion rate in the NFL by creating better padded helmets.  Interviews/Need Awareness/Info Search:   I asked the interviewees basic questions to see how much they knew about the issue. Questions included “Do you know anyone that hungry or have been personally affected by hunger?”, “How aware were you of this issue?”, “What else do you think can be done?” etc.  Summary: These interviews affirmed what I h...

Idea Napkin No. 1

You Hi, my name is Elizabeth Barbe, I am a first year student and I am a General Business major in the Warrington College of Business. I have developed skills as a team leader through involvement in corporations such as Bank of America where I collaborated with other individuals to create health and wellness curriculum programs that were implemented in non-profits such as the YMCA. Through my involvement in Model United Nations, I ran a club of 60 members and participated in competitions across the state. Through the personable and communicable skills I have learned, my goal is to be able to make an impact on other people’s lives through entrepreneurial ventures.  What are you offering to customers? I am offering a service that restaurants can use to deliver their leftovers to homeless shelters. I am solving people’s unmet needs because I am offering homeless shelters another source of food which in turn can help those that. are hungry. In turn, I am helping businesses, specific...
